Clean Power Development, Sustainable Investment, and the Clean Development Mechanism in China Workshop, Jan 7^th ~ 8^th

      Clean Power Development, Sustainable Investment, and the Clean Development Mechanism in China Workshop was co-sponsored by WWF and CREIA. The workshop was successfully conducted during January 7-8, 2003 in Beijing with over 170 attendees. Most of CREIA’s members participated in the 2-day event after CREIA’s First Membership Conference. Other participants include representatives from the China power sector, international organizations, banks and capital investment companies, project developers, officials from the National Climate Change Coordination Committee, research institutes and universities, foreign consultation firms, and the Beijing Olympic 2008 Industry Office. The workshop focused on two main issues: financing renewable energy projects and the Clean Development Mechanism. About 30 presentations were delivered, which elicited active feedback from the audience. Many questions were raised regarding CDM procedures, project requirements and national management guidelines in China, which were answered by the relevant government agencies and experts. International experts shared their experiences with CDM and the emission trading system in other countries.
