In
March 1999, amidst a growing recognition of the contribution that
renewable energy can make to sustainable development, the Government
of China launched the present project, Capacity Building for the Rapid Commercialization of Renewable Energy
in China.
The Project supports a market-oriented approach to increasing the
more widespread adoption of renewables, addressing a number of critical
issues holding back the commercialization
of renewable energy in China today. Strong international
support from the Governments of Australia and the Netherlands, and
from UNDP/GEF, has made possible an ambitious programme of activities.
The
objective of this website is to promote awareness of the Project¡¯s
efforts to drive forward the commercialization of renewable energy
in China. Through its interactive
database, the website also provides an innovative mechanism
for sharing information amongst the many related initiatives ongoing
in China.
We
hope you find your visits to the site not only informative, but
also of practical use to facilitate your work in this field.
Of course, recommendations as to how the site may be improved
are welcome, and should be directed to the project
management office.
