Hangzhou Dengta live-stock farm is located in Zhejiang province, Hangzhou city, Shiqiao county, it was found in 1984, and it was the biggest pig farm in China, also it is a important food project base. It has the scale of 200,000 pigs sold per year, and 2 million tortoises per year. This pig farm has the amount of 3000 tons waste water per day, the CODcr concentration of the waste water was 7000mg/l, the CODcr amount reached 51tons per day, equivalent to a sewage factory for a county. The NH3-N concentration is 2200mg/l. In 1999 September, UNDP/GEF Project group assessed the manure waste processing plant, and passed the industrialized biogas plant/waste water treatment project design.
September 1999, the entire project has invested 14,970,000 RMB, among which indicated 300,000 US$ from UNDP/GEF project. It¨s about 10 years to disinvestments. Hangzhou Environment and Energy research institute is in charge of this project design, til January 2002, the plant went through one year examination performance, and analysis the collected data and give a summary to edit a guide book for design and investment.
February 2001, the Mid-large scale live stock biogas plant industrialization workshop was held in Hangzhou. The participants visited Dengta live stock farm.
